The closest I got to the David Bowie exhibition in London
was the catalogue display at Selfridges.
When I think of real musical "artists," David Bowie is in my top ten and it seems that 2013 is turning out to be Bowie's year. Back this spring, I attempted to visit the much anticipated retrospective of his career at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London "
" but the closest I could get was the many window displays of the exhibition catalogue at Selfridges-- the online tickets were completely sold out-- and the show continues to be a sell out through the summer (it closes mid-August). I was therefore very happy to hear this past week that the exhibition will
open at the Art Gallery of Ontario this September
for its first stop on a world tour. So if you happen to find yourself in Toronto this fall, don't miss an opportunity to take in the show-- but I would book your tickets far in advance!
Here is a RetroBites clip from the CBC featuring David Bowie in a 1977 interview-- I love his discussion of the creative process and insights into music experimentation.
